Manipulation and Ego

Well, looks like I forgot to update this. But it is the process that's important, not the outcome. It's the learning from the mistakes we make that is the most important thing. I keep trying to remind myself; my conditioning and (perhaps) aspects of my own personality want to shield me from harm. But in order to break away from that conditioning, I need to allow myself to fail (not to fail purposefully; that would also be a manipulation), instead of limiting myself and trying to stop myself from failing.

The midnight express

I think I've been in quite a fuzz for the last several weeks.  I think that the book that I read today was very good at bringing me out of a funk. It was nice to reconnect with myself again. I found that experience to be very fulfilling.

Emotional

The last couple of days have been busy. I've been currently working on a game that allows people to process emotions. It's called, 'Emotional,' and can be used as a tool for therapists and casual gamers alike. It's been a fun process creating it.

Ted Lasso

I think that it's interesting to watch a show that doesn't take itself too seriously. Ted Lasso is a show that has both the mix of humor and other elements that capture a speed of life: not too fast, not too slow, just right. The main character does not have the interest of being someone who doesn't stay positive: his attitude towards life is just what we needed during the pandemic. His kindness is what truly sticks out: there aren't a lot of shows written about the "nice guy" or someone who is willing to speak up for the little guy. The second season isn't as good as the first, but we'll see how the season plays out. Both on the soccer field and regarding the team's dynamic. - Lakhshmi

Structures and Categories

There will be several categories to the website that I will eventually make. The categories include: the educational section, the kids' game section and the section for all other games that don't fit in those two categories.

White Lotus Episode 5

White Lotus HBO Max ~45 minutes per episode There are so many interesting things in the show "The White Lotus." I recently watched "The Lotus Eater," referring to a comment that one of the cast of characters made within the show. He sits around, watching all the rich people eat, and says, "I think of them as Lotus Eaters." It's a clever allusion to both the Greek myth as well as the fact that the name of the show is the "White Lotus." It's hard to remember when you're on vacation, but as they say in the show, the reason that most people forget about the problems that happen to the staff is because you are made to forget. That's part of the gimmick. In reality, the problems that abound are a present force in everyone's lives, but you pay to forget it.  I would highly recommend it. 4.8/5

Cardinals & Blue Jays

Today I saw a blue jay and a cardinal right next to each other. The sight was pretty. I was thinking about ordering some yarn. The yarn can be used to make very beautiful things.

On the Process of Things

When you focus on the process, there's a lot more enjoyment in the work. - Lakhshmi

On Mercurial Works

Mercury is both the god of borders and the god of games. Creating board games is a process of breaking things down (borders/categories). Mercurial also means full of change, capricious, temperamental -- the way my games are created. Works that are created out of whimsy and lightheartedness -- those are Mercurial Works.

Hello...

I found a very insightful post from Jamey Stegmaier's website. He has an interesting perspective -- he thinks that you should blog for the sake of blogging rather than gain. It's hard to keep up with blog posts, but I agree. It builds structure in your life.  I will try to blog something at least every week, and perhaps every day when the habit builds up. Lakhshmi
